This noncredit course is designed to give knowledge and skills on English Language under four components namely writing, speaking, listening and reading. The component writing aims at teachingtenses- active and passive and builds up the confidence of the students. The writing lessons set out in the syllabus are those considered suitable and desirable for the first stage of English learning. The structural approach must be follow in this semester as it does not require the students to know or learn definitions of the parts of speech. But it includes basic grammar rules related to the parts of speech under the writing component. Considerable flexibility is always possible, and indeed desirable in any language course. Therefore speaking and listening items presented must depend on ability of the learner to grasp. The subject reading component is designed to improve the use of language on the other courses are also included in the semester as the reading is an important factor on learning a language.
